Clubbers Guide to the Internet [Part 2]
A while back I started a post to try to give clubbers an upper hand on the sometimes confusing nightlife scene. I’m back with a few more tips that can help you better plan your night and avoid those worthless outings. Below are a few sites/tools that can help you have a great time out. Going.com Going is a site that not only lists local events, but they also offer guestlist for certain...

Manor West: Lounging like a Boss [Quick Review]
I’ve been MIA for a while, and I’m really sorry about that. Since my last post there have been several changes in the SF nightlife scene, a lot of new venues have popped up and some old favorites have received facelifts. The latter is true with Manor West, formally known as Boss. A SoMa fixture, Boss had been steadily falling off the radar for some time, so the change makes perfect...

Community Speak Up!
Whenever meeting someone for the first time, I eventually get asked the question: “what do you do?”, now most people can simply respond in a word or two - “Marketing”, “Finance”, “Sewage & Sanitation Engineer”, etc. Me on the other hand, “Community Manager”. Community Management? Community what? Huh? What is that? These are the...

Public Transportation Etiquette: An Urban Survival...
Don’t let this happen to you…
From the words made famous by comedian Martin Lawrence and then popularized by a Youngbloodz ft. Lil Jon song, “don’t start no stuff, won’t be no stuff” I know we all have those bad mornings where we feel the entire world is against us and you want to tackle/pimp slap the next person that glances at you funny, but this is a bad...

Clubbers Guide to the Internet [Part 1]
For a while I’ve wanted to create a series of posts that bring together two of my passions - Social Media (Web 2.0 sites and tools) and the nightlife scene. Now is the time! More and more nightclubs, bars, restaurants, etc. are connecting with people online. It’s actually starting to be a rare occurrence when a nightclub does not have a Myspace account, or a restaurant does not have...

Clubbin' News: WET Nightclub Closed (San Jose)
South Bay clubbers will be disappointed to learn tonight that it has been decided to shut down one of the larger clubs in San Jose. A few weeks ago the club was forced to temporarily shut its doors in order to develop better security protocols, earlier today SJ police decided to make things final and permanently close the venue. The owner has 10 days to appeal, but it’s not looking good. ...

Weekend Recap: 09/21/2009
I know it’s been a while since I last posted, I apologize, it’s been a hectic few weeks, lots of new projects, travel, etc. That being said, I’m back now! I plan on keeping a more consistent blogging schedule so please stay tuned. Before I started traveling last month I had the chance to stop by one of the most unique nightlife spots in SF, Supperclub. Instead of having...

Weekend Recap Vegas Edition Pt 2
Summer time is here, and what’s a better way to enjoy it than sitting by the pool sippin’ on some cooled alcholoic beverage? And where’s a better location for such activities? Vegas of course! Sin City has some of the grandest pools around, and after a long night/morning of partying and dancing, there’s nothing like relaxing pool side. Several Hotels have equisite pool...

Weekend Recap Vegas Edition Pt 1: 5/08/2009
The last few weeks have been hectic to say the least, I sincerely apologize for not updating my blog in such a long time, but I have good excuses! I’ve been traveling a lot, NYC (for which I still owe some reviews) and most recently to Vegas for my Birthday. There isn’t any other place on this planet quite like Vegas, and as a party connoisseur, it’s a must to check it out at...

Weekend Recap 4/06/2009
I know, I know, another late post. I apologize, things have been ramping up on a few other projects that I have going on so I’ve been suffering from sever CPT. Last week I got the chance to visit a new event (changing it up a bit this week, this is not a club review) that has been receiving a lot of buzz around the Bay Area lately so I was itching to investigate. By coincidence one of my...

Weekend Recap: 3/23/2009
Greetings all, I’m back with this week’s installment of the weekend recap club review. Spring is upon us, and that is clearly reflected in the changes in attire (or lack there of) out on the scene, but hey I’m not hating :). This week I got to check out a spot I’ve never been to, it’s not really new, but it’s part of a growing segment - restaurants that turn...

50 Cent Presents Pimpin' Curly [Funnies]
50 Cent is a man of many talents, we all know he can sell records, and he’s even a pretty good investor from what I hear from my friends back east, but I never knew he had a humorous side. Coming out of his recent beef with Miami Boss Rick Ross, the character known as Pimpin’ Curly mixes several different traits from popular 70’s era blaxploitation movie pimps and pushers. He...

Weekend Recap: 3/16/2009
First off, I’d like to apologize for getting this posted a few days late - St.Patty’s day was a huge obstacle as you can expect I did my fair share of partying (click here for exhibit A). This weekend was pretty crazy…crazier than normal as I had a ton of bday parties to check out, so club hoppin’ was necessary. My first stop is a place that I like to check out from time...

Public Transportation Etiquette: An Urban...
I recently had a conversation with a friend that inspired me to start writing a series of social etiquette posts regarding taking public transportation. This is something most of us have to confront at some point or another during our lives, we all need to commute to certain locations where parking is limited, or go through a phase of our lives car-less. That being said this is also a subject...

Weekend Recap: 3/09/2009
This weekend seemed to come and go way too fast, it certainly didn’t help that we lost an hour thanks to day light savings. I did however get to go to one of my old faithful - most reliable clubs, Apt. 24.
Apartment 24
(yes that’s me in the makeup, this picture is from halloween)
Positives: Arguably, one of the nicest venues on Broadway, Apartment 24 sets itself apart from the...

Man and Wife TV [Funnies]
Fatman Scoop and his wife Shonda have a weekly webshow (and tv show), Man and Wife, where they discuss all things sex (need to be 18 to view). Honestly, the first time I stumbled upon this I nearly fell out of my chair at work suffering from a Storm of laughter. Scoop is a pretty funny guy, honestly if he wasn’t such a good hype man I’d tell him to go into comedy. Shonda usually...

Weekend Recap: 3/02/2009
I’ve really been running behind schedule with posting an update, I had the flu last week and barely felt like doing anything…except sleep. Luckily, I was able to rally and felt much better by the time the weekend rolled around. So I put my gameface on, went clubbin’ just so I could leave you guys with the reviews you love…jk, but on a side note, I do appreciate all the...

Weekend Recap: 2/23/2009
This weekend, like most these days, came too slow, and ended way too fast. I had the chance to stop by Slide, a place I have had a love/hate relationship with over the years, but this weekend reminded me why I continue to come back.
Slide
Positives: Slide attracts a high end clientele, and sort of has a mystery about it since it can be difficult to get into. The crowd is pretty...

Kid CuDi [Newish Music]
Kid CuDi is one of my new favorite hip-hop oriented artist. I say hip-hop oriented due to the fact that he is influenced by many different types of music and that’s reflected in his work. XXL magazine added him to their hip-hop’s ten freshmen of ‘09 list, and he clearly belongs there. The “martian”, or “man on the moon” as he calls himself in his latest...

Weekend Recap: 2/17/2009 (extended addition)
Still sightly recovering from an extra long weekend, and was able to hit up more clubs thanks to it. This week I’m reviewing Mist and Fluid (we all like some misty fluid here and there jk), so enjoy!
Mist
Positives: Mist (which was formally known as loft 11), has a pretty nice interior, and to my knowledge is the only place in SF with a glass dance floor for the upstairs VIP section. ...

The Show Show [Funnies]
The Show Show is a weekly current events/gossip commentary webshow hosted by the hilarious Bari the Beautiful. I don’t know how I exactly stumbled upon this - I think it was during my freshmen year in college and someone forwarded me a message on BlackPlanet (remember that? social network 1.0), but ever since then I haven’t missed an episode. Bari does a good job breaking down all...

Valentine's day 2.0 [Tech News]
The guys over at animoto have created a godsend (yes, I know this story broke about a week ago, but I still think this feature is pretty cool). They created a customizable eCard specifically for Vday. Users can upload person pictures of themselves and their boo boo (aka loved one) and it puts the pictures into a slide show. The whole process only takes minutes to complete. Check it out, after...

Empire of the Sun [New Music]
The other day I stumbled upon a new music duo out of Austrailia on The Hype Machine, Empire of the Sun. Something about these guys makes me think they will be successful in today’s music landscape, they’re unique sound, and spiffy wardrobe (which I dig mucho) set them a part from others. The vocals are very remix ready, and the original songs are pretty prestine in their own...

Weekend Recap: 2/8/2009
It’s a well known fact that I’m a fan of the nightlife scene and frequent some of the local hot spots. This weekend I got to go to some of my favorites, and saw the good, bad, and ugly. Here’s a quick review of one of the places I visited this weekend:
Infusion Lounge
Positives: This has got to be one of the sleekest, sexiest designed venues in San Francisco. World renown...

Here’s my Boom tho movement dance off competition entry, granted, this is not an accurate depiction of my best moves (all impromtu). This is still a testament of how I get down on the dance floor. By the way, I’m winning the competition…oh yeah…hotness..
